The Orca is one of the planets most unique and social mammals. It is a toothed-whale belonging to the dolphin family, but it has a familial bond and image all it's own. It communicates and hunts in ways that are passed on from generation to generation in a way that intrigues researchers all over the world.
This coin was designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc and the reverse uses a profile view of an Orca breaching from the ocean. The Orca is almost completely out of the water and the image is cleverly angled so as to show both the unique facial markings around the eyes and the underside at the same time. In the distance the artist has captured the Northwest Pacific coast with its majestic pines and clean shorelines. The obverse features the renowned Susanna Blunt effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the words "Elizabeth II D.G. Regina"
The mintage is limited to 40,000 coins worldwide and is done in an elegant matte proof finish and has a mirror finish background.
This coin comes in a maroon clamshell case with a serialized certificate.
