The American Gold Eagle coin program was introduced by the United States Mint in 1986 and has since soared to the height of most popular bullion coin in its country of origin.
The reverse design, by the hand of Miley Busiek, portrays a bald eagle male, bringing twigs home with which to strengthen the nest, while his mate and offspring stir in greeting.
