Product details

Triple Maple, now with black rhodium plating.

Triple Maple returns in 2026 with a striking addition: black rhodium plating that offers maximum contrast. On this 1 oz. 99.99% pure gold coin, the plating forms a muted black background, enhancing the rich gleam of the maple leaf arrangement by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten. Against the darkness, those gold leaves appear even more radiant than those of late autumn—warm, luminous, and full of quiet depth.

Classic engraving. Classic Canadiana.

COIN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Second release of the Triple Maple. Introduced in 2025, Triple Maple features an inspiring trio of Canadian maple leaves presented in a realistic art style that emphasizes their natural beauty and form.

BLACK RHODIUM PLATING

A new Triple Maple design feature in 2026, black rhodium plating offers maximum contrast. It fills the field on both sides of this matte proof coin, allowing the maple leaves to radiate understated elegance.

DESIGNED AND SCULPTED BY RETIRED SENIOR ENGRAVER STAN WITTEN

The maple leaf arrangement was created, photographed, sketched, and then sculpted by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten, who was inspired by fallen leaves in his backyard. Triple Maple reflects Stan’s passion for his craft and his love of nature, which shaped his vision and approach to sculpting maple leaves during his 35-year career.

DID YOU KNOW?

Acer saccharum, the sugar maple, is arguably the most famous maple tree in Canada—it’s the preferred species for maple syrup production, and it’s abundantly found in our eastern forests.

The reverse design by retired Senior Engraver Stan Witten features an arrangement of three sugar maple (Acer saccharum) leaves, set against a black rhodium plated field. Gently overlapping, the leaves are tilted towards the right to convey movement, as though the leaves are falling or have just landed on the ground, while still allowing a clear view of their intricate vein pattern. The obverse features a black rhodium plated field and the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
