Christy Mathewson was one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history, and is the only pitcher in MLB history to rank in the top 10 in both career wins and in career ERA.
Even though his career ended more than a century ago, he is still ranked third overall in MLB wins!
Christy was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame upon it's opening in 1936 - one of five players so honoured.
This silver bar is the second release in the Elemental Baseball Greats series, and unusually, is made in two different versions by using different baseball cards on the reverse of the bar.
The baseball cards are from the famed T-206 series issued by 16 different brands produced by American Tobacco.
The cards are very sought after today due to their rarity and full colour printing.
The obverse of this bar mimics the cigarette packaging that the T-206 cards were contained in.
The reverse of the bar has a sepia-toned photograph of Christy Mathewson standing on the mound, about to begin his wind-up.
The right side of the bar contains one of two different baseball cards issued in the T-206 series of cards.
All of the bars are numbered, and with a limited mintage of only 1,909 total Christy Mathewson versions these are sure to be a real baseball lover's collector item.
