Walter Johnson is a true legend of baseball, considered one of the most dominating players in history. His fastball was devastating, and responsible for many of his records. He was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 as one of the first five players inducted, who were later referred to as the "five immortals". This silver bar is the fifth release in the Elemental Baseball Greats series, and unusually, is made in two different versions by using different baseball cards on the reverse of the bar.
The baseball cards are from the famed T-206 series issued by 16 different brands produced by American Tobacco. The cards are very sought after today due to their rarity and full colour printing.
The obverse of this bar mimics the cigarette packaging that the T-206 cards were contained in.
The reverse of the bar has a sepia-toned photograph of Walter Johnson throwing a pitch. The right side of the bar contains one of two different baseball cards issued in the T-206 series of cards. All of the bars are numbered, and with a limited mintage of only 1909 total Walter Johnson versions these are sure to be a real baseball lover's collector item.
This bar comes in a numbered acrylic case, packaged within a true-to-era sealed cigarette case.
