This vision of regal muster is set within a frame bearing the title of the coin, as well as its year of release.
The obverse design, which has been just as skilfully fashioned by renowned Jody Clark, is an elaborate portrait of Elizabeth II in profile. Elizabeth II's regal title is also to be found on the obverse, as well as the coin's unique face value.
Each of the original sculpted beasts, by artist James Woodford, was is a symbolic composite of a portion of Elizabeth II's geneology; the originals are still to be seen in Canada's museum of history.
