Internationally renowned for its precious metal processing and more than 800 years of coin production, the Austrian Mint is one of the world's leading mints. Based in Vienna (since 1194), the mint produces approximately 450 million coins a year, including all of the Republic of Austria's euro coins. Besides euros, the mint produces commemorative and other coins, such as gold bullion pieces, for collectors. It also supplies blanks and circulation coins for other countries. While operating as a private company, the mint is owned by the Austrian Central Bank and has been the sole mint in the republic since 1919.
