AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE DESIGN

The coin’s reverse showcases a dynamic scene from outback Australia. Clockwise from the right, a dingo stands on a rocky perch. Two emus are positioned in the riverbed, one pausing to drink at the water’s edge. A snake lies coiled on a nearby rock, while a crocodile emerges from the water. Three kangaroos are depicted bounding across the terrain and a wedge-tailed eagle soars in flight above. The background features a rugged mountainous landscape extending across the horizon. The design includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and 2026 year-date. The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the coin’s weight, fineness and monetary denomination. The outer rim is adorned with illustrations of native Australian flora.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint's 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990. Ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia in July of 1970. Under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, they were empowered to mint and market gold, silver, and platinum as Australian legal tender to investors and collectors worldwide.
