CLASSIC BOND CAR

James Bond’s arsenal of gadgets and weaponry included an Aston Martin DB5, which debuted in 1964’s Goldfinger. Modified by Q Branch for the agent’s deadly mission against the notorious gold smuggler, it featured concealed weaponry, a bullet-proof rear shield, and an array of gadgets designed to foil pursuers. When threatened inside the car by an adversary, Bond dispatched his unwanted passenger using an ejector seat. The sleek ‘silver birch’ sports car remains synonymous with James Bond.

COLOURED COIN DESIGN

The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured image of Sean Connery leaning on the bonnet of the Aston Martin DB5. The design includes the coloured inscription ‘JAMES BOND’, the 007 gun logo, and spiral gun barrel graphics from the franchise’s signature opening sequence.

H.M. KING CHARLES III EEFIGY

The obverse portrays the Jody Clark effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the weight, purity, monetary denomination, and 2024 year-date.

PRESENTATION PACKAGING

Housed in a presentation case and 007-themed shipper, the coin is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity which reproduces movie production designer Sir Kenneth Adam’s original sketches for the gadget-enhanced DB5.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as the British Royal Mint’s 3rd branch in Australia. The historical Hay Street location handled gold refining until moving to a modern facility in April 1990.
