This is the third release in a series that truly represents a meeting of highly diverse worlds, the Rwandan Lunar Series, which features symbols from the Chinese Zodiac, saw inception in 2017, with the Year of the Rooster.

The reverse feature is a unique take on the Pig symbol which represents 2019 in the Chinese lunar calendar, as the sow and her piglets are beautifully portrayed in mosaic form, giving the feature a distinct African flare. Also on the reverse, the Chinese character for ‘PIG’, along with the coin title, the year of issue, the words ‘lunar ounce,’ and details of weight purity and metal content.

The obverse features the official seal of Rwanda, along with the words, ‘National Bank of Rwanda’, written in Kinyarwandan, which is the official language of Rwanda. Also on the obverse, the coin’s unique denominational value, in numerical form and written in Kinyarwandan.
