The United States Mint released these Mercury gold coins to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the release of the silver mercury dime.

These coins feature the original Winged Liberty design, they are known popularly as the Mercury Dime due to the resemblance of the Winged Lady Liberty to the Roman god Mercury. The winged cap young Liberty was designed symbolizing America's military readiness.

The centennial gold dime coin was made with a business strike and with a metal content of 1 troy oz of 9999 Fine Gold.

Most recognizable institutions that are enabled to do professional coin grading service use the internationally recognized Sheldon grading scale, which ranges from 1 to 70 to grade coin condition. The SP-69 (which stands for Specimen Proof with a 69 grade) is the second-highest score a coin may achieve.
