The $20 Liberty head double Eagle is a coin that is as appreciated as much for its historical value as it is for its bullion content. Designed in 1849 by United States Chief engraver James B. Longacre the double Eagle went through a minting period that spanned 57 years and three renditions. The double Eagle was seen as a more efficient means of facilitating trade both domestically and abroad, resulting in greater continued economic expansion following the industrial revolution. This coin, steeped in history related to one of the expansive periods in the United States history, has been identified and graded as an MS-64 state coin.

The obverse of this gold round features Longacre's rendition of Lady Liberty, as her left-facing bust is surrounded by thirteen stars, representative of the thirteen original American colonies. The year of issue rests below the bust.

The reverse illustrates the United States of America's national emblem, a bald eagle with outspread wings, an olive branch in its left talon and an olive branch in its right. A crested badge rests at its center and the official motto of the United States "In God we Trust" above the Eagle's head.
