Most reputable numismatic grading organizations use the internationally recognized Sheldon grading scale, which ranges from 1 to 70 to grade coin conditions. The MS-65 (which stands for Mint State with a 65 grade) is one of the highest scores a coin may achieve. It’s alternatively referred to as Gem Mint State.

The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle gold coins were a replacement to the Liberty Head Double Eagle gold coins from 1907 to 1933. The coins are guaranteed to be graded as MS-61 and encapsulated to protect their condition. Each of the coins maintains a similar, but not always identical, design on both the obverse and reverse depending on the year of release.
The reverse design is a beautifully stylized, heraldic eagle, shown with wings spread, behind the American shield, with a halo of sunlight above. The reverse also bears the American mottos, as well as the USA legend and the coin’s unique denominational value.
The obverse of each coin features the ‘Liberty’ version of the Lady Liberty bust, which has undergone numerous redesigns throughout the Double Eagles run; she is shown wearing a diadem with the word, Liberty’ on it, with her curled, shoulder-length hair meticulously rendered by the artist.
The bust is surrounded by 13 stars, with the year of issue appearing below on the obverse.
Created by name in the Coinage Act Of 1849, the Double Eagle coins truly represent a piece of American history.
Own your own piece of history and enrich your holdings with a Random Year $20 Liberty Double Eagle MS-65 gold coin today.
ABOUT THE UNITED STATES MINT
Established in 1792 as the first national mint in the United States, the United States Mint is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury responsible for official legal tender coinage production. The United States Mint has a mission to serve Americans as the sole manufacturer and distributor of circulating currency coins. The U.S. mint also produces commemorative coins for collectors, silver and gold bullion coins for investors (such as the popular Eagle and Buffalo series), as well as Congressional Medals.
