The .308 calibre Winchester-designed round is one of the most popular and diverse in the ammo world today, being used primarily as a hunting round in its traditional form.

One of the most popular ammo rounds in the United States, the .45 calibre round, went into development in the 1890s as the United States Military looked for a replacement for its aging .45 calibre single-shot pistols.

The 0.50 calibre bullet was developed by John Browning in 1910, initially created for a field-deployed heavy machine gun that saw wide use in World War II. Following the war, the United States Armed Forces found more platforms to deploy the .50 calibre round, including machine guns mounted on helicopters and armoured vehicles.

12 gauge is the most popular gauge used in shotgun rounds. The number associated with the gauge is determined by the weight, in fractions of a pound, of solid sphere lead inside the round with a diameter equal to the inside of the gun barrel.
